How STA 2.0 Works

Step 1: Apply

Start your maintenance career by submitting an application right here on our website. To be eligible, you’ll need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Access to a reliable, full-time vehicle

Once we review the application, someone from the STA team will reach out to invite you to a required orientation session.

Step 2: Orientation

Get an inside look at the STA 2.0 program, tour our training facility, and decide if this career path is the right fit for you. We’ll walk you through the structure, expectations, and the commitment it takes to succeed.

Step 3: Screening & Enrollment

If you decide to move forward after orientation, we’ll conduct:

  • A drug screening (excluding marijuana)
  • A full criminal background check

After reviewing your results, we’ll let you know if you’ve been accepted into the next STA 2.0 class.

Step 4: STA 2.0 Training Experience

Our training mirrors a real workday: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, for 8 weeks (40 training days). You’ll wear a uniform (provided), steel-toed boots, and follow a strict attendance and dress code—just like you would on the job.

Thanks to our sponsor, Chadwell Supply, you’ll also receive a full set of professional tools at no cost.

STA 2.0 gives you the essential skills to thrive as a maintenance technician. Training includes:

  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC
  • Carpentry
  • Appliance Repair
  • Make-Ready Processes

You’ll earn your EPA (CFC) Certification and participate in soft skills training focused on communication, teamwork, and customer service. Weekly instructor feedback and assessments help track your progress.

Near the end of training, we host a Talent Showcase—a fast-paced interview event where you meet directly with leading property management companies. Many students receive job offers on the spot.

We also coordinate interviews with employers as job openings arise. While hiring is a two-way street, we guarantee every graduate who stays in good standing receives at least five job interviews.

Once hired, you’ll enter a 45-day paid preview period. Use this time to show your value, dedication, and work ethic. If the company decides to keep you on, you commit to staying for one year—and your training remains free.

If the company doesn’t continue your employment after the preview, you’ll be responsible for half the cost of training ($2,499).

If you’ve completed the program and attended your five guaranteed interviews but haven’t secured a position within four weeks, we’ll continue helping with your job search. At that point, if you're still not employed, you’ll be responsible for half the cost of training ($2,499).

Every STA 2.0 graduate is afforded a professional mentor (STA 2.0 instructor) for ongoing support. Whether you want regular check-ins or just someone to call when you need advice, we’re here for you—on your terms.
