The Service Training Academy (STA 2.0) is a comprehensive workforce development program designed to prepare highly motivated individuals for entry-level roles in apartment maintenance. As a property owner or manager, here’s what you need to know about how the program works—and how it can work for you.
60 Days of Maintenance-Focused Training
STA students complete 60 days of intensive training in:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Carpentry
- Appliance Repair
- HVAC Systems
- EPA CFC Certification (earned before graduation)
Training takes place in our state-of-the-art hands-on facility and includes real-life experience working on local apartment communities.
A Real-World Work Environment
From day one, students are expected to treat STA 2.0 like a job:
- Professional uniforms required
- Strict attendance policy
- Weekly timesheet submissions
- Real-time coaching and feedback
This structure mirrors the expectations of a real maintenance role, preparing students for a seamless transition into the industry.
Performance, Accountability, and Growth
Students are evaluated regularly through:
- Section-based testing
- Weekly one-on-one check-ins with their instructor
- Ongoing feedback focused on strengths, improvement areas, and job readiness
They also receive soft skills training in areas like communication, teamwork, professionalism, and conflict resolution—critical skills that enhance workplace success.
From the Classroom to Your Team
As program completion nears, we host a Talent Showcase in a speed-dating style format, where MMHA members can meet, interview, and hire our graduates. Each graduate:
- Has a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Has passed a drug screening and criminal background check
- Is ready to work and eager to launch their career
